MONTESSORI PHILOSOPHY
➤What is Montessori Philosophy?
The Montessori Method of Education, developed by Italian physician Dr.Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observation of children. The Montessori method views the child as the one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It attempts to develop children physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.

Montessori Philosophy of learning is a unique approach to learning rather than 'teaching' the child concepts. The classroom environment is designed in such a way to expose the children to materials and experiences through which they develop the intellectual, as well as physical and psychological abilities.

➤Why Montessori?
“
"We discovered that education is not
something which the teacher does, but that it is
a natural process which develops spontaneously
in the human being."
–Dr. MARIA MONTESSORI
In most traditional schools, the children are taught educational concepts in a group by a teacher. In Montessori schools, the children work at their own pace, independently, learning concepts from multi-sensory materials designed for self-correction and physical exploration. A spontaneous love of 'work' is revealed when the child is given freedom (within guided boundaries) to make their own choices.

Montessori education involves free activity within a "prepared environment", meaning an educational environment tailored to basic human characteristics, to the specific characteristics of children at different ages, and to the individual personalities of each child.
Benefits Of Montessori
The function of the learning environment is to help and allow the child to develop independence in all areas according to his or her inner psychological directives. In addition to offering access to the Montessori materials appropriate to the age of the children, the environment should exhibit the following characteristics:

-
An arrangement that facilitates movement and activity
-
Beauty and harmony, cleanliness of the environment
-
Construction in proportion to the child and her/his needs
-
Limitation of materials, so that only material that supports the child's development is included
-
Order
-
Nature in the classroom and outside of the classroom

Phonics at SIMS
Children have an excellent opportunity to learn the English language through the method of Phonics by UK Licensed Phonics Teacher.
Phonics is a reading method that helps the children to learn the sounds (phonemes) that one or more letters make together when reading them aloud. These sounds can easily teach a beginning reader how letters work together to comprise the words to communicate with others. Learning phonics helps the children learn to read, develop a good accent, and write the English language with a strong foundation at an early age.
